-The Stratford Police Department is investigating a bomb threat that prompted an evacuation of the elementary, middle and high school.

On Tuesday, just after 1:00pm, a student told a school employee he found a handwritten note in the bathroom.

In an email to parents, the district said, “At 1:05 we found a note in one of our buildings suggesting a bomb at 2 pm. We evacuated both buildings between 1:40-1:45pm. Authorities were contacted and checked the building.”

Students were taken to neighboring schools, St. Joseph's and Zion.

The Marathon County Bomb Squad did x-rays and searches of the lockers and classrooms but found nothing.

Parents were able to pick their kids up from the school shortly after the evacuation and students couldn’t leave in their vehicles until the inspection of the school parking lot was completed.

The entire area was cleared by 3:45pm, but all evening activities were cancelled Tuesday. School will resume as scheduled today.

At this time they are hoping the person responsible comes forward.
