Owen-Withee School Board Discusses Building Usage and Right of First Refusal

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard a report on the districts school usage from Somerville Architects.

The data was collected after the company visited the school and talked with teachers, administrators, board members, and community members.

The preliminary report identifies over-used areas of the building, under-used areas, areas that need replacing and areas that need repurposing.

Larry LePage, the architect that the district has been working with will be at the school again on November 28 to meet with District Administrator Bob Houts to discuss the report. He will then return on December 10 to meet with the board at their regular monthly meeting.

The board also decided to take no action on the request for the Right of First Refusal from CellCom regarding the cell tower on the districts property.

The $500 Cellcom has offered in the Right of First Refusal contract will barely cover the legal fees the District would incur to make sure the contract is in their best interest.

The district has a right of first refusal built into their agreement already. There is no financial incentive for the District to enter into this agreement.
