-A Marshfield man that doused a woman in gasoline and threatened to start her fire has pleaded not guilty in Wood County Court on Thursday.

Tyler Ress, age 23, has seven total charges filed against him. They are 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety, strangulation and suffocation, false imprisonment, abortion of unborn child by another, battery, disorderly conduct, and contact after domestic abuse arrest.

Back in September, Ress punched a 28-year-old pregnant Marshfield woman multiple times to try and make her miscarry. He then doused her in gasoline, threatening to light her on fire.

Ress appeared with his attorney Damon Stichert and Craig Lambert appeared for the state.

Stichert did enter a plea of not guilty on his client’s behalf and his 10,000 dollar signature bond will continue. He also cannot have any contact with the woman he hurt.

Ress is currently being held in the Wood County Jail and if convicted he could face 50 years in prison.

Judge Nicholas Brazeau Jr. set a future court date for December.
