Water Rates, Fire Department, and New Police Chief Discussed at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council had a busy night on Tuesday.

The board approved the increase of the city’s water rates by 3.2%. This was done due to a recommendation by the Public Service Commission.

The City of Owen has entered into an Inter Municipal Co-Op Agreement with the Owen/Withee/Curtiss Fire Department. Withee agreed to this at their City Council meeting on Monday. Owen/Withee/Curtiss has become a Fire Department instead of a Fire Association like they were.

Finally, Owen will be putting a post looking for their new Police Chief on Wilynet, which is a website that specializes in filling positions in the law enforcement field.

This comes after the Owen Police Chief recently resigned due to reports of misconduct, although nothing significant was found during the investigation.
