Mead Witter Foundation Receives Award

-The Mead Witter Foundation, Inc. received the Wisconsin Library Association’s President’s Award at the Wisconsin Library Association’s annual conference in La Crosse on October 26th.
The award was presented by WLA President Ron McCabe for the foundation’s ongoing financial and moral support for Wisconsin’s public and academic libraries.
2012 marks the fourth time the Mead Witter Foundation has offered a large noncompetitive grant program to the public libraries of central and northern Wisconsin. This year sixty-eight libraries received a total of $407,000.
The Neillsville City Library has won the Mead Witter Grant 3 times since 2001 and they’ve used the money to buy books, equipment, and other needed items. This year they used the 5,000 dollars they received to buy more children and adult books. They also bought 4 new chairs for library patrons to use at the public access computers.
The four grant programs together have provided a combined total of $1,643,500. Counting additional grants to public and academic libraries, the Mead Witter Foundation’s financial support for Wisconsin’s libraries now totals $2,490,000.
