Cause of Officer's Accident Discovered

-The investigation has been completed on the Wisconsin Rapids officer that crashed his squad car.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, on Saturday, October 20th, Officer Douglas Vanberkel was traveling too fast to safely negotiate the curve on 3rd Avenue near 1st Avenue.
Vanberkel then crashed his car into a wall and was air lifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Vanberkel was issued a citation for unreasonable and imprudent speed.
He has since been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
