Final Category for New Report Cards

-John Gaier, District Administrator for Neillsville discussed one final category that is used to track a district’s progress with the new school report cards.

The category is student engagement and John said, “A district can’t gain points with this category, but they can lose points.”

John continued saying, “This category can be tough because it uses test participation as a main factor for deciding points. There must be a participation score of 95%. So if a group of 20 kids are taking the test and one or two students don’t take it, the district will lose points.”

“This category also looks to make sure you are meeting the absent rate standards and that you have a dropout rate of less than 6%.

If you’d like to learn more about the new report cards and Wisconsin’s system you can contact the Department of Public Instruction.
