Clark County Could See a Large Tax Increase for Next Year

-Under a new Clark County budget strongly effected by ACT 10, the economy, and other factors, Clark County residents may have to pay a nickel more per 1,000 dollars of value they own.
Next year would mark the highest county tax increase since 2006.
The state imposed tax levy increase limit, here in Clark County, allows it raise taxes based on how much its property value has grown.
Because of this all county boards were asked to submit zero increase budgets.
Another big headache for the board has been ACT 10 and the changes allowed to county workers benefits. The changes the board has instituted would help the county save money, but many employees are furious with the changes.
The proposed budget has to get through a public hearing and a county board approval session before anything is set in stone.
