President Bush’s proposed 3-cent tax per hundred pounds of milk would cost area farmers a lot of milk money.

The Marshfield NewsHerald reports today farmers in Clark, Marathon, Taylor and Wood counties would pay about $850,000 a year if the tax becomes law.

Clark is the top dairy county in the state with 1,013 herds; Marathon County ranks 2nd.
