A snowmobiler spent nearly two hours under water Wednesday night after falling through the ice on Lake Chetekin Barron County.

Witnesses report two friends were skipping open water, when one of the men went in. Dozens of rescue workers were eventually able to pull the man from the water.

WEAU-TV in Eau Claire reports Gary Root, the owner of a nearby resort, was one of the first people on the scene.

"I got down there. I could see the snowmobile completely down and I could hear the young gentleman screaming for help," Root says. "By the time we could get there, he was down. We didn't see him again for about an hour and forty minutes."

The man was taken to the hospital, but his condition is unknown.
