Former Greenwood Teacher Files Complaint Against the District

-A former Greenwood teacher has filed a complaint against the district.
Amy Anaya started working at Greenwood last year.
When she started, Anaya was told she had to join the teachers union and pay the required dues. However, Anaya had told them she had no desire to join and didn’t want to pay the money.
One year, and 750 dollars later, she has filed a complaint against the district and the union with the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission, claiming they were both in violation of Act 10 provisions.
Anya is simply looking to get that money back from the district as they took it without her permission.
District officials said there is no merit to the case as the district signed a new contract with the union June 24th of last year and Act 10 took effect June 29, therefore the contract takes precedent.
Anya no longer works at Greenwood, but she said her leaving the district had nothing to do with her current situation.
