Secretary of the Department of Tourism Visits Marshfield

-The Secretary of the Department of Tourism paid a visit to Marshfield on Monday.
Stephanie Klett is an excellent choice for the Department of Tourism as her energy seemed to fill the room.
Stephanie said her main focus is to market the state of Wisconsin. "We're not a brick and mortar departemnt. We are here to show people what makes Wisconsin great."
When she joined the department, it was decided that a four year plan was needed on how to better market the state, but they finished the plan in 1.5 years.
The first thing that was needed was an increased budget, but Stephanie had to go before representatives and senators to ask for the funds. "The first thing they asked me was why should we give you money when education is being cut. My answer to them was, why wouldn't you. We are the only department that makes you money."
There are many other projects the department is working on including working with different chambers, an improved customer service program, community strengths assessment, and more.
