Clark County Homeowners Targeted by Crooked Service

-Lois Hagedorn, Clark County Register of Deeds, wants you to be aware of a service that isn’t a scam, but should be considered one.
Clark County homeowners are being targeted with a letter that tells them they can receive a copy of their deed for $86. The letter comes from the Secured Document Services of Washington DC.
The letter recommends that homeowners take advantage of the opportunity to prove that they own the home.
However, in addition to the $86 fee, the letter also includes a $35 dollar late fee for a fictional deadline. Only in the fine print does the letter mention that you can get the deed from the Register of Deeds Office.
