CONGRESSMAN KIND 'OPTIMISIC' AFTER STATE OF THE STATE

 LaCrosse Democrat Ron Kind says President Bush proposed a strong agenda during his State of the Union address last night, but he needs to stick to his message.
"It's less of what the President says and more of what he does that will convince me," Kind told the Wisconsin Radio Network's Andrew Beckett after the speech. "I've heard some of these same themes in the past with no action being taken."
Kind says one of the most important messages in the speech was the need to remain committed to efforts in Iraq.
"That starts by articulating a very clear vision of what's happening in Iraq and that will lead to a responsible exit strategy. It's an issue that's deeply dividing our country right now," Kind stated.
Kind questions the President's desire to improve math and science scores across the nation. "Quite frankly, I'm suspicious," Kind says, noting a "disconnect" between what the Administration says and what their budget proposes.
"They're going to pass a budget that calls for $13-billion worth of cuts in the student loan program."
Kind says the president can accomplish much of his agenda if he works with Democrats.
