More Tests Conducted on Lake Wazee

-Lake Wazee’s waters had more tests conducted on Monday.

The Jackson County beach has been closed since the July 4th holiday. People reported feeling ill after swimming in the water.

A spokesperson for Jackson County's Health Department said she is confident the sickness was caused by norovirus.

The norovirus is a contagious infection that causes flu like symptoms and is often caused by fecal material in the water.

Sample tests from several swimmers came back positive for norovirus.

Monday's tests were conducted as a precaution; to make sure the lake has no other, more severe contaminations.

Water samples were removed over a period of three hours which will be tested by a lab in Marshfield.

Test results are expected Wednesday.
