Commission Meets to Discuss Economic Development in Neillsville

-Members of the Commission on Economic Development meet Thursday evening.
The commission discussed several important items including how to further develop Neillsville’s industrial park and providing more housing for individuals 55 and older. Both those items were tabled for the time being.
However, the commission had a long discussion on the fairgrounds. Everyone in attendance agreed that the fairgrounds was an “asset and should be cherished and not a burden.” It was also noted how much business the events at the fairground bring the City of Neillsville.
The Clark County Fair Board had reached out to the city to help with the funding of a new sound system for the fair grounds.
They system they want to put in would cost a total of 32,700 dollars and the fair board wants to put part of the system into the barn this year. The total for that being 15,000.
In the end, the commission decided to contribute 5,000 dollars towards the system to show they are serious about improving the fairgrounds to bring in more events.
However, they did include in the motion that it would be a one-time donation.
