Long-Time Clark County Cheese Maker Passes Away

-A long-time, Clark County cheese maker recently passed away.

William Schwantes, age 82 of Marshfield, a former cheesemaker who owned Lynn Dairy and Lynn Proteins near Granton for many years passed away July 5th at his home after a long time illness.

Schwantes became president of Lynn Dairy in 1956 upon the death of his father, who had just purchased the operation seven years earlier.

He also attended courses at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and joined the National Guard for a time.

Prior to his retirement in 1988, he served as an officer of Central Wisconsin Cheesemakers Association and received numerous awards during his career, including the title of World Championship Cheesemaker.

Funeral services will be held for Bill on Wednesday.
