And now for some happier news. The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce held their annual Recognition Banquet Thursday night at Fannie’s Restaurant.

The night had a patriotic theme with the Chamber honoring members of the 128th infantry and listening to a keynote speech from Nancy Olson, widow of Staff Sgt. Todd Olson of Loyal who was killed in combat. They also enjoyed patriotic music from the Neillsville Area Players.

The Star Volunteer Award was given to our very own Larry Hoeser.

The Business of the Year Award was given to Luedtke Floral. Kent Luedtke said their 30-years of success could be attributed to three things: family, employees and customers.

Glen and Virginia Luchterhand’s “Luchterhand Dairy” was honored as the Agribusiness of the year. And the Salute of the Year went to Randy and Julie Reineck for 25-years of operating the Central Wisconsin Horse Sale.

The Chamber also gave a “Special Salute for Honorable Service” to the Wisconsin National Guard – specifically, Charlie Company 128th Infantry.
