Tuesday, June 12th, 2012 -- 9:57 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
-Prosecutors called Eric Koula “a man of secrets” in the opening statement of his double homicide trial.
Now, investigators are trying to convince the jury he’s also a liar.
Authorities’ say Koula told them at least three times his father gave him a signed blank check just before he was killed.
Now he admits to forging it.
They say he reported receiving a letter that claimed to frame him for his parents’ homicides.
Now he admits to writing it.
Part of Monday’s testimony centered on a .22-caliber rifle found in an upstairs closet of the Koula’s house.
Fingerprint analyst Laura Matson said, the state Crime Laboratory couldn’t recover identifiable prints from the firearm, including one near the trigger, and one on two boxes of ammunition.
Analysts also did not find Koula’s fingerprints on the threatening note he sent to himself.
