Trial for Neillsville Graduate Set to Begin

-The trial for the West Salem day trader accused of gunning down his parents will start on Monday.

Prosecutors have charged Eric Koula, a Neillsville graduate, with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of Merna and Dennis Koula. They were found shot to death in their town of Barre home in May 2010.

Prosecutors say Koula killed them to collect on his inheritance. His attorney contends a professional killer executed the couple.

At the most recent motions hearing, Judge Horne spoke with both defense and prosecuting attorneys to make sure they were satisfied with the evidence that was being allowed in the trial.

There was minor debate between both parties on whether certain “expert testimony” should be allowed, but in the end a consensus was reached between them.
