BOARD TO VOTE ON COMP. PLAN AFTERALL?
Saturday, January 7th, 2006 -- 11:35 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The “Clark County Year 2025 Comprehensive Plan” may come off the table earlier than expected.

When county supervisors met in December, they tabled the plan until their meeting in April. Now, Granton Supervisor Fritz Garbisch has drafted an amendment he hopes will be an acceptable compromise between pro- and anti-plan supervisors.

If approved by the board, the amendment would add a paragraph to the ordinance that would make the plan effective January 1st, 2010. It would also make the plan “void and unenforceable” if the state legislature rescinds the “Smart Growth” legislation.

In light of the amendment, the Comprehensive Plan ordinance is listed under “old business” on the January 17th board agenda and could be removed from the table for “consideration and passage”.

The only resolution on the agenda also pertains to the Comprehensive Plan. Vocal Plan opponent, Bob Rogstad of Greenwood, has a resolution that would have the County Board go to voters with an advisory referendum, which would ask: “Should the Clark County Board of Supervisors pass an ordinance to adopt a comprehensive plan?”

The board will meet on January 17th at 7 p.m. in the County Board Room.
