This Week is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin

-Governor Scott Walker has proclaimed April 16 – 20 as Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin.

The campaign is to remind people of the dangers associated with tornadoes, thunderstorms, flooding and hail and to encourage citizens to take protective safety measures.

To encourage county first responders and citizens to be prepared for severe weather, Clark County Emergency Management is promoting Wisconsin’s Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week. The statewide tornado drill will be held on Thursday, April 19. For Clark County, the mock tornado watch begins at 1 p.m. and the mock tornado warning will be at 1:45 p.m. The drill concludes when the mock tornado watch/warning ends at 2 p.m.

If you’re interested in becoming a storm spotter, the Clark County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service are bringing SKYWARN Storm Spotter School to Owen. This free two-hour class will be held on Wednesday, April 18th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
