Red Cross Names Local Firefighter Hero

-The Red Cross names a Chili firefighter a hero.
Erin Martin is a fire fighter with the Chili fire department and has been nominated by the Chili fire and Rescue Chief, Simon Fischer. The American Red Cross has named her “Volunteer Emergency Response Hero of 2012.”
Martin has been with the Chili Fire Department since she was 15. She is a first responder and a fire fighter. She is always looking out for the community and is willing to go above and beyond for those in need.
A fine example of her community efforts can be found in the role she played after the community was devastated by tornados in August 2011. She called the Salvation Army, asked business to donate food and water, helped clean up the town, and so much more.
Fire Chief Simon Fischer said, “My opinion is that to be completely absorbed in other people’s problems for that long of a time is the true meaning of a hometown hero.”
