-Michael Hinzman appeared in court for a preliminary hearing.

The hearing got off to a rocky start when Hinzman’s lawyer, Loren Hadcock, was half an hour late. Hinzman has been accused of robbery and assault of an elderly business owner in Stanley.

Hinzman entered Yellowstone Implement on February 10th at closing and was very rough with James Shock, 77, the owner. Before he did this, Hinzman did call the store, giving an alias, to find out when it closed. Shock did suffer head and face injuries from the encounter including a broken jaw.

Hinzman then took several items including several gold watches and tin of old coins. The coins were later recovered from a vehicle Hinzman had borrowed on the day the incident happened.

Several witnesses were called forward to establish a timeline of the events including Hinzman’s wife.

Michael Hinzman is pleading not guilty on all charges on the complaint and has future court dates of March 29th and April 3rd.
