Eau Claire Businesses Warned About E-Mail Scam

-Local businesses are being warned about an e-mail scam that tripped up one Eau Claire company.
We are not identifying the company, but did speak with a representative today. He said they received an e-mail claiming to be from the Better Business Bureau. The e-mail indicated there was a complaint from a customer, but in order to address it, you had to click on a link that was given.
The local company wanted to be sure it was legitimate, so the representative we spoke with called the phone number that was listed. Turns out, it was the official Better Business Bureau number. After doing that, he clicked on the link which activated the virus.
The company wants to alert other local businesses about the scam because it heard that businesses in a certain zip code tend to be targeted at the same time.
