-The Marshfield Police Department is investigating a report by a 12-year-old Marshfield boy who said he was chased by an unknown man after he left the middle school Monday.

According to the police report, the boy was walking on East Eighth Street heading to the Youth Net Program, when an unknown man parked his car behind him and quickly got out of the car and began chasing him. The boy said he was able to outrun the heavyset man and make it to the program, where he told a staff member about the incident.

"The matter is being investigated to its fullest," said Police Chief Gary Jepsen. "We don't want to alarm people. At this point, we're not ready to conclude this was an abduction situation or that it was not. There are a lot of questions and we need answers."

The man is reported as white, in his 40s and medium build, Jepsen said. The man has collar-length brown hair and a gray goatee. He was wearing a purple and green hooded jacket and black sweat pants.
