Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Clark County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to look for the public’s help in solving a rash of vandalism and other criminal activity that occurred earlier this month in the town of Hewitt.

According to Chief Deputy Jim Backus, the stolen truck fire in which the Neillsville Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to on Sunday afternoon is related to those incidents.

The criminal activity earlier this month ranged from arson, to criminal damage and also included the theft of an ATV. About ten residences were hit in the Snyder Lake area and in the towns of Hewitt and Seif. Authorities believe a white pick-up truck with “dualies” was involved. They also believe the vehicle had tail lights that were lower to the ground and closer together than normal lights and some front end damage. Backus also now says that a smaller red car may have also been involved.

Additional theft and burglaries have occurred and he says they do have some persons of interest in this case. Backus says they are continuing to work on resolving this case again they ask anyone with any information or if you see something suspisious to contact the Clark County Sheriff’s Dept. at 715-743-3157 or you can call the anonymous tip line at 1-888-847-2567, or 1-888-TIP-CLSO.
