The New Year is barely underway, but Wisconsin farmers can bet 2012 will be a big year for them.

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau is out with their annual predictions of the top stories of the coming year. In no particular order, they say the U.S. Farm Bill, Wisconsin’s never-ending election cycle, new Federal regulations, trade and food security issues will have a huge impact on the ag industry next year.

Farm Bureau President Bill Bruins predicts a good 2011 for farmers, coupled with the federal government awash in red ink, will lead to a drastically different looking U.S. farm bill. There will likely be cutbacks in subsidies and income supports.
