Former City Clerk Pleads to Theft

A former city clerk from Owen will be sentenced in February for stealing thousands of dollars from the municipality.
52-year-old Cindy Cardinal pleaded no contest this week to one count of theft from a business setting and one count of misconduct in office.
According to court documents, an audit found more than $30,000 missing from the city's accounts starting in 2008.
A presentence investigation has been ordered with sentencing scheduled for February 29, 2012.
