A high-profile jail inmate has been transferred out of Clark County.

According to Clark County Jail records, Gary Thiede, 41, was turned over to the state Department of Corrections last week.

Thiede was convicted of the 1988 murder of 16-year-old Robert Aponte in Jackson County. He was later convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he knew in Clark County.

He was released from prison last year and had resided at a Town of Washburn residence from September of last year until this July when he violated conditions of his extended supervision by viewing pornographic images on his cell phone.

According to the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry, Thiede remains incarcerated and has been moved to the Racine Correctional Institution.
