Milk production in Wisconsin was up in September and August after several months of decline.

According to the Ag Statistics Service, Wisconsin produced 2.1 billion pounds of milk in September, up 2% from the same time last year.

The 2% increase follows a 1% increase in August, ending a streak of several months of decreases.

California is still the nation's leading producer, harvesting 3.3 billion pounds. Wisconsin remains solidly in second place.
