Experts believe this will be a record year for corn.

According to Wisconsin Ag Connection, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture's farm statistics division is still expecting a record corn harvest for the 2011 growing season. The state's corn yield is expected to be around 160 bushels per acre, up three bushels from last month's estimates. If total production reaches the predicted 525 million bushels statewide, it would be a record high for Wisconsin. However, yields would be second to last year's record.

Yields will be up about 100 ears per acre to 28,650 ears per acre. The weather has cooperated, too. That’s led to about 74 percent of the state’s crop rated good to excellent.

Nationwide, corn production is expected to dip by about one percent.
