MARSHFIELD MAN DIES IN CAR CRASH

A 24-year-old Marshfield man died in a car crash yesterday afternoon.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, a 1997 Chevy Blazer was traveling on Day Road, just east of Hewitt, when the driver lost control on loose gravel and went into a ditch. The vehicle burst into flames.
The driver, 18-year-old Julie Burkhalter of Auburndale, and a passenger, 24-year-old Zachary Singer of Marshfield were both ejected.
Singer died at the scene. Burkhalter was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. Her condition is not known.
The accident remains under investigation.
