STRATFORD MAN CHANGES PLEA
Friday, October 7th, 2011 -- 12:23 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

A Stratford man is out of prison and back in jail after a judge granted his request to withdraw his plea to a felony-murder charge connected to his wife’s death in 2009.

Eric Mayer was serving a ten-year sentence after pleading to a charge that he committed a felony—in this case battery—that caused his wife, Cyndi Tyler, to die. The charge stemmed from an alcohol-fueled scuffle which ended when Mayer punched Tyler in the head.

Mayer withdrew the plea because, he says, he wasn’t given complete information about the consequences of his conviction.

Court records show a pre-trial conference has now been scheduled for October 25th.
Meanwhile, Mayer will be held in the Marathon county jail on a $100,000 bond.
