OFFICIALS: 'KILLER CANTALOUPE' WERE SOLD IN WISCONSIN
Monday, October 3rd, 2011 -- 2:39 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

As the investigation into the so-called “killer cantaloupe” continues, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture has confirmed melons from the listeria-infected farm were sold in Wisconsin.

State health officials say the whole melons from Jensen Farms in Colorado, sold under the brand name Rocky Ford, were shipped to Aldi stores between August 16 and September 13. Once notified of the Jensen Farms recall, Aldi's promptly removed the melons from their sales floors and issued a nationwide recall.

They say people who purchased cantaloupe from Aldi’s, or are unsure of their origins, should toss them.

The cantaloupe may be labeled: Colorado Grown, Distributed by Frontera Produce, USA, Pesticide Free.

Two cases of listeriosis among Wisconsin residents have been linked to the multistate outbreak.
