Obey’s office announced yesterday a $248,000 federal grant will help Community Progress Initiative organizers create a loan fund for local entrepreneurs. The money will be used for the initiative's venture loan fund. The Wisconsin Rapids Tribune reports the goal is to provide a loan of about $10,000 to each business that participates in the program. Organizers are working to establish the loan fund. Rules and criteria for obtaining a loan haven't been created, and other aspects need to be finalized.
