Someone out there knows something, and Brittany Zimmermann's family hopes they will share it, eventually.

The 21-year-old University of Wisconsin-Madison student was strangled and stabbed to death in April 2008.

The case has gone unsolved.

Wisconsin State Journal reports the family is organizing the second annual Brittany Zimmermann 5K Run/Walk that will take place Sept. 17. It benefits a fund that helps law enforcement solve crimes by offering money for information leading to arrests.

Last year's event raised about $20,000. There is also a $40,000 private reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Madison police say detectives are still actively investigating.
