Clark County officially has a new Clerk of Court after a swearing-in ceremony Friday morning.

Heather Bravener took the oath of office administered by Circuit Court Judge Jon Counsell.

Judge Counsell appointed Bravener to serve out the remainder of Gail Walker’s term.

Walker, who passed away on August 19, planned to retire on September 2. She served 8 ½ years in the position.

Bravener said she was looking forward to running the office.

"I'm very humbled right now at this turnout," she said. "I'm excited. I want to thank Judge Jon Counsell for giving me this chance."

"I'm here to serve."

The position will be up for election in November 2014.
