INTERFAITH LOOKING FOR HELP

A local organization that helps older adults maintain their independence is looking for more volunteers.

Judy Morrow of Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Clark County says the group is seeing an uptick in people around the county needing help.

"We need a lot. Call and we'll get you a job," Morrow says. "Since April, we've added 48 new receivers to our list. Some of our volunteers are really stretched thin."

Interfaith does a number of smaller chores that can be difficult for older adults: things like housekeeping, mowing the lawn and shoveling snow, but they also provide companionship for people that might not have anyone else to talk with.

Morrow says Interfaith is trying to work more closely with other existing organizations.

"We want to work with as many agencies as we can," she explains. "What we're looking at in the future is having a very strong contact person in every town."

"So that they will know their volunteers and they will know the people that need help."
