THIEDE STILL IN JAIL

A convicted murdered and sex offender whose placement in rural Neillsville caused quite a stir last year remains in the Clark County Jail.
Gary Thiede, 41, will likely remain at the Clark County Jail for awhile, according to Tim LeMonds of the Department of Corrections.
LeMonds said Thiede self-admitted to viewing pornographic images on his cell phone in violation of his extended supervision. The misconduct is still under investigation and Corrections officials are looking into possible alternative treatments.
Those treatments will probably require Thiede to go to a different facility. It will likely be months before he’s ultimately re-released.
LeMonds says no decision has been made on his living arrangements after the “alternative to revocation” is complete.
Thiede has been living south of Neillsville in the Town of Washburn since September 1 of last year.
He was convicted of the 1988 murder of 16-year-old Robert Aponte in Jackson County. He was later convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he knew in Clark County.
