ABORTION BILL PASSES ASSEMBLY
Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005 -- 1:18 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Assembly Tuesday night to make it more difficult for minors to receive an abortion without their parents' consent. The parental consent bill passed 61-to-34. It next goes to the Senate and must pass both houses before it can go to the governor. The Assembly adjourned for the night without taking up a second bill that would require doctors to tell women seeking an abortion starting with their 20th week of pregnancy that their fetuses may be able to feel pain. There is debate in the medical community whether that's true. The Assembly now plans to take that bill up next week.
