LOYAL SCHOOL TAXES GOING DOWN

Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

A local school expects to see a 17% drop in their tax levy next year.

According to this week’s TRG, Loyal school officials were pleasantly surprised to see they’re one of only a handful of Wisconsin schools that will actually get more state aid under the state’s new two-year budget.

That, coupled with savings from re-worked employees’ contracts and a reduction in their overall revenue-limit will lead to the school’s tax levy falling from $1.5 million to $1.24 million.

The district’s projected budget shortfall is also expected to plummet from $400,000 to just $70,000.

The budget will go before district residents at the school’s annual meeting on September 12.
