KOULA TRIAL NOW IN DECEMBER
Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011 -- 10:47 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

Eric Koula, formerly of Neillsville, won't be tried for the death of his parents until December. His 13-day trial now is scheduled for Dec. 5-21 in La Crosse County Circuit Court to accommodate witnesses. It was scheduled to begin Sept. 26. The next hearing on the case is Sept. 8. Prosecutors last year charged Koula, 40, with two-counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the May 21, 2010, shooting deaths of his parents, Dennis and Merna Koula formerly of Neillsville. Authorities contend he fatally shot them inside their town of Barre home to profit from their deaths, then deposited a $50,000 check forged from his father's account the day after the killings. He also is charged with forgery. Eric Koula remains in the La Crosse County Jail on a $1 million bond.
