HERITAGE DAYS MOVES TO THE PARK

Organizers of this year’s Neillsville Heritage Days festival believe a change of scenery will lead to a more family-oriented event.

The 17th annual summer get-together starts Friday evening with the hub of activity moving from downtown to Schuster Park.

Event co-chairs Dan Herbrand and Daryn Horn are excited for the move.

"First and foremost, it adds more of a family setting," Horn explains. "You've got the park where the kids can play, families can be together, you have the shade from the trees, where downtown, it gets very hot on the black pavement."

"Plus, we can offer many different activities," adds Herbrand, "and from the response we've had, we should have some excellent crafters from the area, plenty of food for people and refreshments."

"We're looking forward to a good turnout," Herbrand says.

Artisans in the Park is free and runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. It’s just one of many new events.

Parking shouldn’t be an issue. The committee encourages parking in the school and utilizing a special Heritage Days shuttle service.

"Plenty of parking at the school and we have 2 larger golf carts for people to get a ride too, or from, the festival grounds. Parking shouldn't be a problem," Herbrand says.

"We think this is really going to be something special and we hope people come out and check it out," Horn encourages.
