Neillsville woman killed in one vehicle crash
Clark County authorities are investigating a traffic crash that claimed the life
of one person. On Saturday, July 2, 2011, at about 2:25 pm, the Sheriff’s
Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a one vehicle crash on STH 73
about one mile north of Neillsville.
Initial investigation indicates a vehicle driven by Evelyn J. Schoengarth, 72,
Neillsville, was southbound on STH 73 when she lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle crossed the roadway, entering the east ditch and striking a power
pole. A passenger, Virginia I. Neuendorf, 89, Neillsville, later died from her
injuries from the crash. Both subjects were extricated from the vehicle.
The Neillsville Fire and Ambulance Departments responded to the scene.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department is continuing the investigation. This
is the fourth fatality in Clark County for 2011.
