CLARK CO. BOARD MEMBER TARGETED FOR RECALL

Recall fever is spreading to Clark County.

At least one County Board member is facing a recall effort.

According to Clark County Clerk Christina Jensen, Byrl Dahl of Chili filed a “statement of intent to circulate recall petition” against Chili-area supervisor Steve Okonek. Dahl now has 60 days to collect 99 signatures to force the recall.

The 99 votes represents 25% of the votes cast in the district in the 2010 Governor’s election.

Dahl also filed a campaign registration statement.

If Dahl collects the needed signatures, Jensen will have 30 days to review them and Okonek will have an opportunity to appeal them.

The actual recall election could take place sometime in August.

Based on the costs associated with a rash of recalls in 2001, Jensen believes a recall election could cost around $5,000.
