NEILLSVILLE ALUMNI SEEING ACTION IN WIAC

Sean Gerber’s eight RBIs helped lead the UW-Stevens Point baseball team past St. Norbert University, 21-7, Tuesday afternoon as the Pointers won their seventh straight game. The eighth-ranked Pointers (26-cool.gif got things rolling right away, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first to take a 7-0 lead. Freshman Cain Trunkel of Neillsville pitched to two batters in the 6th inning giving up a hit and a couple of runs. The Pointers return to action this weekend, as they will host UW-Stout in a pair of doubleheaders. The first doubleheader will take place Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at University Field. The Pointers control their own destiny this weekend for a WIAC Championship as they enter the final weekend of play one game ahead of UW-Whitewater in the conference standings.


The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field squad competed at the St. Mary's University Invitational Saturday, April 30. Sophomore Sheila Opelt of Neillsville was on UW-L's second-place 4x100-meter relay team, she also finished 4th in the 100 meter hurdles and fourth in the long jump. UW-L returns to action this Friday, May 6 at the WIAC Championships at UW-Platteville.
