Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

A 31-year-old Thorp area man has been charged after a strange incident early Sunday morning that left two dogs dead.

According to court records, Gerald Scherr told a 911 dispatcher that someone had to (quote) "die sooner or later."

When deputies arrived at the mobile home in the Town of Reseburg, they found an apparently drunk Scherr passed out on the floor.

Witnesses inside the home said Scherr had shot his brother’s two dogs.

Sherr told authorities he stabbed one of the dogs because it was urinating on his trees and he brought the dog in the home with the intention of eating it.

Scherr faces several charges including mistreatment of animals.
