A former state senator will run for Congress next fall.

On Monday morning, Pat Kreitlow (D-Chippewa Falls) announced his intention to challenge first-year incumbent congressman Sean Duffy.

Kreitlow said he decided to throw his name into the race after Duffy voted to “blow up” Medicare.

Kreitlow represented the 23rd state senate district from 2007 to January of this year. He lost a reelection bid to Republican Terry Moulton last November.
