Clark County employees and board members will be reimbursed more for business travel. The County Board approved a Personnel Committee resolution last week that will up the reimbursement rate from 34-cents to 39-cents per mile. The five-cent increase is expected to cost the county $6,000 for the remainder of this year and $25,000 next year. Barb Petkovsek of the Department of Administration says this new rate took effect on October 7th and brings the county closer to the federal rate of 48.5-cents. County employees are reimbursed for using their personal vehicles to travel for county business. They are not reimbursed for driving from home to their normal workplace. County records indicate the Community Services and Social Services departments are projected to receive the most reimbursement money: $63,639 and $51,274, respectively well over half the $200,000 that has been budgeted for 06. Meanwhile, County board members are reimbursed for all travel done for committee and board meetings its estimated they will receive about $20,000 in reimbursements next year
